Patrick Paul "Pat" Welch, 58, of Sioux City, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2017, at a local hospital.

Abiding by his wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Good News Baptist Church, with the Rev. John Woodford officiating. Visitation with the family will be 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.

Pat was born on Nov. 29, 1958, in Sioux City, to Bert G. and Alma J. (Nation) Welch. He received his education in the Morningside Sioux City Public Schools, and had a career in sales until his health declined, and forced him to leave the workforce.

Pat married Markie Lill on June 3, 1989 in Sioux City.

He enjoyed playing with his children, collecting coins, listening to music, singing in the choir at church, and was a practical jokester. He enjoyed playing with his dogs, Pokie, Chica and Luna. He was a member of Good News Baptist Church.

Pat is survived by his wife, Markie, who has shared his love for 33 years; children, Nickie Iddings Pilcher of Lincoln, Neb., Mark Welch of Ricketts, Iowa, Katie Welch of Sioux City, and Sommer Welch of Sioux City; grandson, Carter James Welch of Sioux City; siblings, Dawn (Ness) Bashara of Omaha, Norma Cotter of South Sioux City, Pam (Dwight) Boetger of McCook Lake, S.D., Ricke (Bill) Sloan of Sioux City, Dennis (Kathy) Welch of Hubbard, Neb., and Susie Welch of Sioux City; and many nieces and nephews that he loved very much.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Andy Merville Sorensen; half sister, Sherri Higginbotham; and half brother, Bert Welch Jr.
