Robert John Lehr, 84, of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at a local hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Bob was born on July 26, 1932, in Sioux City, the son of Samuel and Ada (VandenBrink) Lehr. He graduated from East High School in 1950. Bob served in the U.S. Naval Reserves from 1950 to 1962.

Bob married Frieda Clausen in March 1956 in Mallard, Iowa. Bob worked in sales at various places in the Siouxland area. He would be mostly remembered as the tire man at T&W Tires in Sioux City. Bob and Frieda hosted foreign exchange students in their home and stayed in touch with them.

Bob was a great gardener, growing every vegetable one could think of. He was also an active, lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Bob was baptized at the church as an infant, confirmed at the church in May 1946, and continued throughout his life to be involved in many aspects of the church.

Survivors include his wife, Frieda; children, Diane (Maynard) McCall of Clarkston, Mich., Douglas John Lehr of Sioux City, Roberta "Robbie" Murphy of Whitmore Lake, Mich., Sharon Lehr of Salt Lake City, Utah, Denise (Alex) Turk of Chisago City, Minn., and Susan (Troy) Zimmerman of Parker, Colo.; grandchildren, Amanda, Thomas, Ian, Autumn, Kelsey, Meghan, Mackenzie, Miles, Max, Jack, Luke, and Nicole and her family in Berlin and Nina and her family in Helsinki; and two great-grandchildren, Olivia Hazel and Benjamin Maynard.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; and sons-in-law, Peter Murphy and Jim Crump.
