25 May 2017Dorothy Delores Meier, 85, of South Sioux City, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.
Dorothy was born on May 10, 1932, in Sioux City, the daughter of Israel and Zella (Hampston) Denind. Dorothy Denind married Robert Eugene Meier on Sept. 23, 1951. Dorothy worked at IBP on the tipper machine, for 30 plus years, retiring in 1992.
She enjoyed gardening, reading, she was an excellent artist, and had a very strong faith in the Lord. Most importantly, Dorothy was a devoted wife and mother.
Survivors include her children, Linda McDaniel of South Sioux City, Susan (Mark Jr.) Tighe of Sioux City, and Randy (Lisa) of Colorado; grandchildren, Allison, Matthew, Courtney, Melissa, and Joshua; and great-grandchildren, Devon and Marissa.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; son, Robert; and great-granddaughter, Lara.
