SIOUX CITY | Kenneth W. Hulstein, 70, of Sioux City, died Thursday, April 6, 2017, at a local hospital.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 15, at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Kenneth Wayne Hulstein was born on Dec. 26, 1946, in Sioux City. He was adopted as an infant by the late Stephen and Gertude (Wesselink) Hulstein. Kenneth quit school after the 5th grade and worked for Stofern for a time and then was hired by Crystal Tip Ice Machine until leaving in 1982. He then worked for Graves Construction.

He then moved to Denver, Colo., and worked for an ice machine company for two years. Kenneth then moved to Arizona and worked for Mobile Mini Storage System from 1990 to 1992. He moved back to Iowa and worked for Hospers Packing Plant. He then moved to Sioux Falls, S.D., where he received his Social Security disability judgment.

Kenneth lived in Sioux Falls from 1995 until he moved to Sioux City in 2004, and had lived here until the present time. Kenneth then worked with the Senior Companion Program in Sioux City from March 2010 until September of 2016, when he was diagnosed with cancer.

Kenneth is survived by four nieces; and multiple cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Myra Jongma Stewart.
