Lynelle D. Van Houten, age 57, of Correctionville, Iowa, formerly of Shelby, Iowa, passed away on Friday, August 26, 2016, at the Correctionville Specialty Care of Correctionville, Iowa.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 01, 2016, at the Christensen – Van Houten Funeral Home of Battle Creek, Iowa. The Rev. Karen Handke will officiate. Committal Services will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery of Battle Creek, Iowa. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 1, 2016 at Christensen – Van Houten Funeral Home, of Battle Creek, Iowa. Lynelle D. Van Houten the daughter of Carlton and Blanche (Lochner) Van Houten was born on March 22, 1959, in Cherokee, Iowa.

Lynelle enjoyed the simple things in life. She grew up with family until she was 19 years old and moved to Shelby, Iowa. Lynelle lived in Shelby for 33years before relocating to Correctionville, Iowa, where she resided in the Correctionville Nursing & Rehab up until present.

She liked listening to music, making crafts, dancing, watching her favorite shows and eating with her friends.

Left to cherish her memory are her siblings, Gaylen (Marilyn) Van Houten of Whiting, Iowa, Merlin “Mert” (Rosaline) Van Houten of Washta, Iowa, Lorton (Linda) Van Houten of Caladonia, Mississippi, Jervae Downing (Butch Handke) of Anthon, Iowa, Lila Volkmann (Bobby Urdiales) of Alvin, Texas; numerous loving nieces, nephews and extended family.

Lynelle is preceded in death by her parents; maternal and paternal grandparents; brother, Vernon L. Van Houten; and sister, Anita Marie Van Houten.
