SIOUX CITY | Mildred Mae (Nemechek) Moseman, 98, a teacher and traveler, formerly of Sioux City, died on April 23, 2016.

Mildred Moseman was born on Dec. 2, 1917, in Humboldt, Neb. She grew up on a farm and attended a rural school.

In December1942, she married Arthur G. Moseman. They were married for 50 years, until his passing in 1992. In 1957, she graduated from Morningside College with a teaching degree. She retired from teaching in 1984 after 43 years, with the last 25 years teaching sixth grade at Lincoln Elementary School in Sioux City. She presented workshops on teaching science at a number of National Science Conventions in the United States and Canada and had many articles printed in national teachers' magazines. As a teacher, she had a positive impact on the lives of countless youth and future citizens. After her retirement, Mildred worked with Asian immigrants helping them obtain their general education diploma and tutoring local students for many years.

Mildred loved putting on Saturday story hours at the South Sioux City Public Library. On her passing, she donated her travel treasures to the library to help other learn about the many places she and Art traveled. Art and Mildred were known for giving programs on their travels to service organizations, schools, and retirement homes.

Mildred's other community involvement included South Sioux Women Club, American Association of University Women, American Business Women, Sioux City Retired Educators, South Sioux City Chamberettes, Sioux City Education Association, National Council of Elementary Science International Community Foundation, Junior Luther League Sponsor, Explorer Advisor, Senior Girl Scout leader and Junior Red Cross. She was a 4-H leader for 36 years. Mildred received numerous recognitions including the Nebraska Governors Volunteer of Year Award.

Mildred is survived by sons, Michael Jon (Donna) Moseman of Hudson, Wis., and Lanny Joe (Kathleen) Moseman of Marion, Ill.; along with seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations can be given to the South Sioux City Public Libraries Children's programs.
