SERGEANT BLUFF | Constance (Menard) Wanberg, 85, of Naperville, Ill., formerly of Sergeant Bluff, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at Silverado Memory Care in Naperville.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 36 N. Ellsworth St., in Naperville. Interment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., in Naperville. Condolences may be sent online to www.friedrich-jones.com.

She was born on July 2, 1931, in Sioux City, to Grace and Joel Menard. She was raised on the family farm in nearby Sergeant Bluff and her family's experience during the Great Depression made her a hard working and generous individual. Upon her graduation from the University of Iowa, she began her teaching career in Orchard, Neb., and the following year taught in Schaller, Iowa, where she met her future husband, Forrest "Junior" Wanberg.

They wed on June 2, 1956 and shared nearly 61 years together blessed by the richness of close family and lifelong friends. Daughter, Laurie, was born in 1958 while they lived in Schaller and son, Dana, was born in 1964 when they lived in Goshen, Ind. The family moved to Naperville in 1965.

Constance was a 51-year member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and a devoted volunteer to the church's prayer network for nearly three decades.

Constance is survived by her husband; her children; grandchildren, Kate Corman and Will (Brenda) Corman; and great-granddaughter, Maria Joy Corman. She was the beloved sister of David (Shirley) Menard and Beth Hickey; as well the aunt of numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Artel Menard and Owen Menard.
