Melissa Simmons, 35 of Moville, formerly of Danbury, passed away on Monday, Feb. 6, at the Iowa City Hospital, with her family by her side.
Melissa Ann Simmons was born on April 8, 1981, to Scott and Shari Simmons at the Onawa Hospital of Onawa. She graduated from Maple Valley High School with the class of 2000.

Melissa continued her education at Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City, where she enrolled in the Early Childhood Program. She later went back and enrolled into the Vet Technician Program graduating in the summer of 2016.

She was currently employed at the Dollar General Store in Moville and volunteered her time to the Humane Society in Sioux City when needed.
She loved spending time with her family, especially with her niece, Elise and nephew Liam. They were everything to her. She also loved spending time with her friends.

Melissa was preceded in death by her Grandpa Carl Simmons and Cousin Michael Moser.

Those left to cherish her memories are her devoted parents, Scott and Shari Simmons of Danbury; brothers, Ricky of Danbury and Allen of Moville; niece, Elise Simmons; nephew, Liam Simmons; grandparents, Tom and Edna Phillips of Ida Grove and Leona Simmons of Danbury; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 13, at St. Mary Catholic Church of Danbury. Father Dan Greving officiated.

Interment followed in the Liston Township Cemetery of Danbury.

Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m., with a Rosary at 6:45 p.m. and a Vigil Service at 7 p.m., on Sunday, Feb. 12, at the St. Mary Catholic Church of Danbury.
