Margaret L. Asmussen, the daughter of John Henry and Anna (Ebmeier) Asmussen, was born Nov. 18, 1927, in Coleridge, Neb. She attended school in Sergeant Bluff until she was in the ninth grade. The family then moved to Sioux City, where Margaret graduated from Leeds High School.

Margaret was united in marriage with Gordon Korinke Sr. on Sept. 11, 1953. Margaret worked hard in everything she did and served in the capacity of housekeeper at local motels for over 15 years. Margaret finished her career as a food aide at Head Start.

She was an active member for over 60 years at New Life Community Church of the Nazarene. Her servant spirit continued there as she loved children and taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible school.

Margaret enjoyed making quilts, fishing, and spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered for always keeping busy whether it be playing cards with friends at Fairmount Park, putting puzzles together, water walking, or knitting slippers for anyone she thought might enjoy them.

Margaret is survived by her son, Gordy (Cyndi) Korinke of Sioux City; her daughter, Janice (Dennis) Biederman of South Sioux City; five grandchildren, Matt (Vangie) Korinke, Mandi (TJ) Allen, Adam (Ana) Biederman, Amos (Kayla) Biederman and Alex Biederman; and eight great-grandchildren, Dawson, Brody, Lila Korinke, Raeley, Kinley and Kyler Biederman, Kenyah Biederman and Tyson Allen.

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; two sisters; and loving husband.

The family has requested that memorials be directed to New Life Community Church of the Nazarene.
