SIOUX CITY | Patrocinio Alvizo, 57, of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017, at a local hospital following a brief battle with cancer.

A celebration of life service will be 3:30 p.m. today at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation will be 2:30 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home. Abiding by family wishes, cremation will take place following services. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Patrocinio was born on Aug. 11, 1959, in Zapotlenejo, Jalisco, Mexico, to Santiago Alvizo and Maria Silva. He was raised in Mexico until 1975, when he moved to Sioux City. Patrocinio was a laborer in the agricultural industry, working for Tyson for 21 years.

He was a dedicated family man, and found his greatest pride in his children, stepchildren, and extended family.

Patrocinio is survived by his common law wife of 13 years, Carol Babcock of Sioux City; sons, Lesandro and Tomas Alvizo of Sioux City, Jose, Santiago, Lupe, Federico, and Diego Alvizo of Zapotlenejo, Jalisco, Mexico; daughters, Esmeralda, Dalila, and Sandra Alvizo of Zapotlenejo; stepdaughter, Shania Babcock of Sioux City; stepsons, Brady Babcock and Dean Kinnaman of Sioux City; brother, Athena Gutierrez-Ayon of Yankton, S.D.; and his parents, Santiago and Maria of Mexico.

Patrocinio was preceded in death by three children in Mexico.
