SIOUX CITY | Jason Lee Jensen, 53, of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at his mother's home in Spirit Lake, Iowa, surrounded by his family.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Russell Senstad and Rev. David Zirpel officiating. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Aurelia, Iowa. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.

Jason was born on July 24, 1963, in Cherokee Iowa, the son of Gerald and Jean (Grieme) Jensen. Jason's younger years were spent growing up on a farm south of Aurelia. Jason was baptized on Aug. 4, 1963 at St. John Lutheran Church in Galva, Iowa, and confirmed on April 20, 1978 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aurelia. He graduated from Aurelia High School in 1982 and in 1986, he graduated from Iowa State University with a business degree in finance. After college, he moved to Phoenix, Ariz. for a year before returning to Iowa and taking a job with MCI, working his way up, while living in Sioux City, Greeley, Colo., and Wichita, Kan.

He married Margaret Harrington on Oct. 5, 1991 and shortly after moved back to Sioux City, for an accounts payable manager position with MCI. In 1994, he accepted a position with Gateway Computers, where he worked 13 years in the areas of accounting and finance, gaining valuable work experience with a successful, large company. In 2008, Jason started working at Van Beek Natural Science in Orange City, Iowa as director of finance and risk management and commuted 80 miles every day from his home in Sioux City.

In Jason's free time, he loved spending time with his family, fishing and watching sports.

Jason is survived by his children, Joshua Jensen of Minneapolis, and Megan Jensen of San Francisco, Calif.; his mother, Jean Jensen of Spirit Lake; his brother, Jed Jensen and his wife, Amy of Spirit Lake; and three nephews, Trevor, Connor and Zachary.

Jason was preceded in death by his father.
