SIOUX CITY | Joan E. Ashmore, 85, of Arlington, Wis., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Friday, March 10, 2017, at her home in Arlington, with family by her side.

At Joan's request, her remains will be cremated. A private service and burial will be held at a later date at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Poynette, Wis. (www.pmmfh.com).

Joan was born on Sept. 17, 1931, in Sioux City, the daughter of Charles E. and Ella (Dik) Donovan.

She married Charles R. Ashmore on June 16, 1951, in Canton, S.D. Her greatest joys in life were found in God, family and friends.

Joan is survived by her husband, Charles, and their children, Michael (Liz), Charles, Kathi, Linda (Gerry), Daniel Ashmore, Dawn (Greg) DeCelles, and Donna (Vint) Quamme; her brothers, Dennis, Patrick and Michael Donovan; 11 grandchildren; other relatives; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to an organization of your choice.

The family would like to thank her caregivers, Amy, Tracy and Natalie, for their care and support.
