SIOUX CITY | Floyd Barnes III, 66, of Sioux City, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017, at a local hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Interment will be in Logan Park Cemetery, with military rites. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Floyd, the son of Floyd Barnes II and Kathryn (Hart) Barnes, was born on June 24, 1950, in Sergeant Bluff. He grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School in 1968. Floyd then attended Western Iowa Tech Community College in the electrician program.

In September 1969, Floyd joined the U.S. Army and served as a radio relay and carrier attendant, with much of this time served Europe. After he received his honorable discharge, Floyd returned to Sioux City and worked with Terra Chemical and then John Morrell, from which he retired.

On July 6, 1984, Floyd was united in marriage with Clydette Sylvia Kellogg in Elk Point, S.D. Two children were born to this union.

Floyd was a loving husband, who enjoyed being with his family and friends, fishing, hunting, watching football, playing pool and driving around.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Clydette Barnes; a son, Jeremiah Barnes; a daughter, Samantha Barnes; his grandson, Logan Kluver; and two sisters, Robin Britton and Frances Abramo.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
