SIOUX CITY | Mary R. Albrecht, 76, of Sioux City, passed away Monday, Jan. 30, 2017, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with the Rev. Dan Rupp officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Mary was born on June 17, 1940, in Wynot, Neb., the daughter of Reinold and Rose (Jueden) Becker. She grew up in Hartington, Neb. and graduated from Holy Trinity Catholic High School in 1958.

On April 30, 1960, she married Arthur "Dean" Albrecht in Hartington. They made their home in Sioux City and together they raised four children, Mark, Sherry, Joe and Julie. Mary was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She was a longtime member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic minister and belonged to the Ladies Confraternity.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Dean; children, Mark Albrecht of Olathe, Kan., Sherry (Mike) Jones of Des Moines, Joe (Kate) Albrecht of Sergeant Bluff, and Julie (Dana) Soukup of Chicago, Ill.; a brother, Richard (Shirley) Becker of Sioux City; 11 grandchildren, Melissa Wolfert, Kacie Jones, Lauren Albrecht, Joseph Albrecht Jr., Austin Soukup, Aubrey Soukup, Chloe Albrecht, Andrew Soukup, Ashley Soukup, Alayna Soukup and Aidan Soukup; two great-grandchildren, Kaylen and Carter Wolfert; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; and five siblings and their spouses, Rita (Jack) Marx, Donovan (Ann) Becker, Joan (Art) Noecker, Loretta (Dick) Vlaaderen and Reinold (Fran) Becker.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Hospice of Siouxland.
