Tyron A. Bertrand, 52, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Tyron was born July 27, 1953, in Sioux City, the son of Merrill and Josephine (Stidfole) Bertrand. He graduated from North High School in 1973. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy for five years. He received an associates degree from Western Iowa Tech Community College in 1987. He worked for IBP/Tyson for 29 years.

He enjoyed playing the electric guitar with friends and band mates. He was an avid Beatles fan. He also enjoyed technology and his computer.

Survivors include his father, Merrill Bertrand; two sons, Glenn and Paul Bertrand; three brothers, Robert Bertrand and his wife, Mary of Phoenix, Ariz., Brian Bertrand and his wife, Shelia of Sioux City and Troy Bertrand of Jefferson, S.D.; three sisters, Nanette and her husband, Patrick Linsley of Ponca, Neb., Renee Harvey of Sioux City and Yvonne and her husband, John LaRusso of Converse, Texas; eight nieces; and seven nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Josephine Bertrand; maternal grandparents; and paternal grandparents.

Honorary pallbearers will be Brian and Troy Bertrand.
