10 March 1998Helena Cheryl Denise Yellowbank, 5-month-old daughter of Emily Smith and Anthony Yellowbank of Sioux City, died unexpectedly, March 8, 1998, at her residence.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Winnebago Tribal Mortuary in Winnebago, Nebraska with Mr. John Blackhawk in charge of the Winnebago tribal wake and Stephen Red Buffalo in charge of the traditional Lakota rites. Burial will be in Winnebago Tribal Cemetery, Winnebago Wake and Burial is in charge of the arrangements.
Helena was born September 28, 1997 in Sioux City.
Survivors include her parents; a brother, Darnell Smith of Sioux City, great-grandmother, Emily Smith of Winnebago; and grandparents, John Big Eagle Sr. and Judy Yellowbank and Mr. and Mrs. Michael John Sr., all of Sioux City.
She was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Cheryl Smith and Helen John; and great-grandfathers, Waukon Smith and Issac Yellowbank.
Pallbearers will be Michael John Jr., John Big Eagle Jr., Anthony Medina and Travis Mallory.
