SLOAN, Iowa | Irma M. Hunter, 99, of Sloan, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Community of Christ Church in Sloan, with Dr. Emery Killian officiating. Burial will be in Sloan Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa. Irma Mildred Linscott was born on Oct. 23, 1917, in Sloan, the daughter of Elmer and Carrie (Beebe) Linscott. She attended school in Sloan, graduating in 1935.

Irma married Milo H. Hunter on Dec. 20, 1941. The couple made their home in rural Sloan. Two sons were born to this union, Gary and Edwin. She was employed at Wincharger Corporation in Sioux City, and later at a bakery in El Paso, Texas.

She was a member of Community of Christ Church in Sloan, the Ladies Aid, and of the Sloan Order of the Eastern Star Chapter.

Survivors include two sons, Gary (Sally) Hunter of Sloan and Edwin (Stacy) Hunter of Palm Desert, Calif.; five grandchildren, Joel (Jacquelyn) Hunter, Kam (Damaine) Powell, Becky (Brad) Echter, Valerie (Ryan) Echter, and Kimberly (Andy) Schmitz; nine great-grandchildren, Sam, Ryan, Taylor, J.B., Luke, Hunter, Tyson, Cameron, and Madison; 12 great-stepgrandchildren; one sister-in-law, Betty Linscott of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years, Milo H. Hunter on Jan. 5, 2005; five brothers, Nathan, Merrill, Cecil, Calvary, and Wayne Linscott; and four sisters, Lucille Sumner, Marie Myers, Ruie McKain and Ruby Bray.
