Joan Rebecca (Brodie) Heeb, 77, of Wichita, Kan., formerly of Sioux City, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005, after a long illness.

Services will be 11 a.m. today at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Wichita. Arrangements are under the direction of Downing and Lahey Funeral Home in Wichita.

Joan was the daughter of John and Goldie Brodie of Sioux City. She was born Oct. 7, 1927, in Des Moines, Iowa, and raised in Sioux City. After graduating from Central High School in Sioux City in 1946, she attended Morningside College.

She married Joseph A. Heeb of Sioux City.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Susie (Johnny) Tarrant of Wichita and Julie (John) Mills of Overland Park, Kan.; sisters, Luella Coppersmith of Omaha, Neb. and Phyllis Holzrichter of Sioux City; a grandson, JJ Tarrant of Wichita; nieces and nephews; as well as her beloved pet, Buffalo Bill.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; her parents, John and Goldie Brodie; and a brother, James Brodie.
