Bonnie L. Ellis, 74, of Sioux City died Monday, Sept. 5, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Daniel Anderson of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a Order of the Eastern Star service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ellis was born Jan. 20, 1931, in Sibley, Iowa, the daughter of Lloyd C. and Mary Jane (Lewis) Shapley. She attended school in Sibley until 1946, when she came to Sioux City.

She married Harold D. Ellis on May 8, 1947, in Sioux City. She worked for Swift and Company for 29 years, retiring in 1983. Mr. Ellis passed away March 16, 1989, in Sioux City.

She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star Riverside Lodge 662.

Survivors include a brother, Harold Shapley of Hackenack, Minn.; a sister, Geraldine Gonzales of Norwalk, Calif.; three daughters and their husbands, Sharon K. and Jim Harrison of Sioux City, Sandra R. and Dennis Jorgensen of Sioux City and Kathleen A. and Rod Peterson of Le Mars, Iowa; a son and his wife, Larry D. and Roxanne Ellis of McCook Lake, S.D.; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Lloyd and Lealand Shapley; and an infant granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Mike Harrison, Ryan Linduski, Steven Jorgensen, Todd Jorgensen, Corey Weis, Adam D. Ellis and Jeff Pratt. Honorary pallbearer will be Leon Meyers.
