Donald W. Peterson, 29, Sioux City, died unexpectedly Tuesday, July 12, 2005, in Sioux City.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel. Interment will be in Arlington Township Cemetery, Moville, Iowa. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday.

Donald was born Nov. 17, 1975, in Sioux City, the son of Donald and Dena (Hayden) Peterson. As he was growing up, he lived in Sioux City, Moville, the states of Oregon, Washington and Arkansas. While in Sioux City, he attended McKinley Elementary School, Woodrow Wilson Middle School, North High School and was a graduate of West High School. He worked at Mid-Step Services for many years and was a supervisor for their residential facility.

Donald enjoyed working on computers, cars, playing darts, watching the Minnesota Vikings and anything related to family life. He was known as a kind, gentle and polite individual to his family, his co-workers and to the residents under his care. He also enjoyed animals of all kinds, especially cats.

Survivors include his mother and step-father, Dena and Allen Derby, Sioux City; his father, Donald Peterson, Sioux City; two daughters, Ivy and Charlotte Peterson, Sioux City; two step-children, Alexis and Samantha Derner, Sioux City; one brother, Barry and Marlo Hodges, Sioux City; two sisters, Tracy McLaughlin, Sioux City, and Danielle Peterson, Omaha; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial fund has been established in Donald's name in care of the family.
