Bernice Mae "Bunny" Chamberlin, 95, of Sioux City died Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, at Countryside Retirement Home.

There will be a time of prayers at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave., followed by a noon graveside service in Memorial Park Cemetery, with Vicar Randy Rasmussen officiating. Visitation, with the family present, will be 10:30 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to http://www.meyerbroschapels.com">www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Bernice was born Nov. 26, 1912, in Washington, Iowa, to James and Bessie (Norton) Lydy. She attended schools in Muscatine, Iowa.

She married LeRoy Chamberlin on April 5, 1931, in Muscatine. LeRoy preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 1988, in Sioux City. Bernice was a homemaker. She was very involved with her children's lives when they were growing up. She helped in all of their organizations and was a chaperone for their dances.

Bernice enjoyed crocheting, especially volunteering at St. Luke's, making blankets and hats for premature babies. She loved to travel and after LeRoy's retirement, they traveled the U.S. extensively, including a trip to Alaska. They also wintered in Arizona for 22 years.

She was a longtime standing member of Rustin Ave. United Methodist Church. She was a 50-year member of Morningside Chapter 502, Order of Eastern Star. Bernice received the Grand Cross of Color from the Supreme Assembly of Order of Rainbow for Girls in June of 1957.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas L. (Claudia) Chamberlin of Ashby, Minn., and Terry J. Chamberlin of Crestview, Fla.; two daughters, Julia (Eldon) Jensen Black and Caral J. (Duke) O'Hern, all of Sioux City; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers; and two sisters.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Siouxland or Rustin Ave. United Methodist Church.
