Julia A. Junck, 88, of Sioux City died peacefully Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, at Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab Center with her family at her bedside.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Calvary Lutheran Church, with the Rev. David Schoop officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Julia was born Sept. 1, 1919, in Bronson, Iowa, the daughter of Jacob and Alvina (Mundt) Wingert. She grew up on a farm near Bronson. She was the youngest of 14 children. She chose to stay at home to cook and take care of her brothers who farmed instead of going to high school.

She married Raymond Junck on Oct. 31, 1948, in Sioux City. He died March 25, 1984, in Sioux City. she worked at Leeds Nursing Home and Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab Center.

She enjoyed spending her time with her children and grandchildren. She loved to bake and cook and enjoyed baking birthday cakes for other people.

She had been a member of Calvary Lutheran Church since 1950. She was a member of Dorcas Circle, the Ladies Aid and a Bible study group.

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Skidmore and her significant other, George Busch of Louisville, Ky., and Juliana and her husband, Kent Kilstrom of Sioux City; five grandchildren, James and Todd Skidmore, Derek, Courtney and Kallie Kilstrom; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and 13 brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers will be James and Todd Skidmore, Derek Kilstrom, Kevin Wingert, Sonny Barbee and Brian Watts.

Memorials may be directed to Calvary Lutheran Church.
