Charles "Chuck" McCann, 78, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007, at his residence surrounded by his loving family and close friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Resurrection Catholic Church in Tempe, Ariz. Burial will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Mesa. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. today, with a rosary service, at Queen of Heaven Mortuary in Mesa.

Born on the family farm in Thompson, N.D., Chuck worked as a farmer, exterminator and city inspector. He moved to Sioux City in 1961, where he and Honey raised their six children before retiring to Brentwood Manor in Mesa in 1994.

He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus.

He is survived by his six children, Richard (Susie) McCann, Patrick (Jan) McCann, Thomas (Kelle) McCann, Margaret "Peggy" (Paul) Pechacek, Kathleen (Greg) Askins and Janice (Rod) Oligmueller; his companion, Betty Lehn; and 15 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Margaret "Honey" McCann.
