Vera Carr Hoppe, 90, of Winter Haven, Florida went to be with the Lord on September 15, 2015 peacefully in her sleep.

Vera was born in Anthon, Iowa on February 7, 1925 to John and Genevieve (Madden) Carr. She was raised and educated in Anthon, graduating from Anthon High School in 1942. She married Don Lorenzen in 1945. Only seven years after they were married, Don was tragically killed in a fire. Vera opened a grocery store in Anthon and later married Karl Hoppe in 1955. Vera was a loving and devoted wife and mother. Her greatest love was her family, she raised three children; Larry Lorenzen, Michael (Mick) Lorenzen, and Michelle Lorenzen Thayer.

Survivors include her son Larry Lorenzen of Battle Creek, IA; her grandchildren and their spouses; Michelle and Tommy Thayer of Winter Haven, FL; Donald Lorenzen of Sioux City, IA; Chad and Leslie Lorenzen of Aurora, CO; and Jay and Nivia Lorenzen of Aurora, CO; Her brother, Leonard Carr of Ocala, FL; She was blessed to have had seven beautiful great-grandchildren; Kacie, Trey, Kobe, Lindsey, Adalia, Jaydon, and Cecily.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Genevieve Carr; her husbands, Don Lorenzen and Karl Hoppe; her son Michael; her brother Cyril Carr; and sisters, Cleo Hana, Rita Coyne, Loretta Devault, Corrine Johnston, and Elizabeth Keneley.

The Celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 17,2015 at Christ Community Church, 1895 Overlook Dr., Winter Haven, 33884. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Good Shepherd Hospice.
