SIOUX CITY | Ramona Ann (Andersen) Johnson, 86, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015, at a local care center.

Ramona Ann Brouillette was born May 7, 1929, in Sioux City, to Leonard J. and Della I. Brouillete. She attended public school and graduated from Central High School in 1948. She was awarded a four-year academic scholarship to Briar Cliff College and received her Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and English. She then earned her teaching certificate with continuing education.

She married Howard E. Andersen and had a son, Dana. They later divorced. Ramona married Weirt G. Johnson in 1981, who preceded her in death in 1992.

Ramona taught secondary education in Sutherland, Cherokee and Harlan, Iowa, before moving to Sioux City, where she taught English at West Junior High School for 30 years before retiring. She loved teaching school and had very fond memories of her many students through the years, who were fond of her as well. She co-authored a column in the Sioux City Journal called "Behind the Blackboard" for several years as well as penning a column in a local women's magazine, and later fulfilled her dream of publishing a book, "Teachers, Dogs and Other People."

Ramona loved the Iowa Great Lakes, where she spent many enjoyable summers with her son, as well as traveling in the mountains of Colorado. She was an avid collector of teapots, and a passionate dog and cat lover. She will be remembered for her tireless wit and sense of humor and commitment to her profession.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dana and Patty Andersen of New Castle, Colo.; and many cousins and friends in the local area.
