SIOUX CITY | Edward J. Osterholt, 80, of Sioux City, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, with visitation beginning at noon, at Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, with the Rev. Tom Rich officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Monday, with the family present at 6 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Edward was born on April 13, 1936, in Ashton, Iowa, the son of Ferdinand and Helen (Poss) Osterholt. He attended school in Ashton, and Sioux City. He helped his brother farm before entering the National Guard. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1962 during the Korean Conflict.

He was married and had four children, John Edward, Jerry Robert, Joseph Scott and Juanita Marie. The couple later divorced. Edward married Connie Ryan in 1990 at Elk Point, S.D. He worked in construction, at the Truck Haven Gas Station, and retired from Waldbaum's.

He enjoyed building ship models, painting, listening to music, watching westerns, bee keeping and stamp collecting.

Survivors include his wife, Connie Osterholt; children, Jerry (Cynthia) Osterholt, Joseph Osterholt and Juanita (Danny) Boyle, Ken (Susan) Ryan, Ron (April) Ryan, and Jeana (Jerry) Veach; 20 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Grace Hawkins and Howard "Whity" (Betty) Osterholt; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, John Osterholt; parents, Ferdinand and Helen Osterholt; siblings, Stanley, Roger, Alan and Glenn Osterholt, Joyce Nelson and Barbara Ricker.
