Eleanor Bruner Hyndman of San Rafael, Calif., formerly of Sioux City, died Saturday May 11, 2002.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2002, at St. Raphael's Chapel in St. Raphael, Calif.

Eleanor was born October 21, 1905, in Geddes, South Dakota, and lived on a farm with seven sisters and one brother. She married Will Hyndman in 1932 in Marcus, Iowa, where they farmed for 40 years and raised two daughters. After Will's death, Eleanor moved to San Rafael in 1963 and worked at Marin General Hospital. Retiring at the age of 70, she took up karate and earned her black belt at 94 years of age.

Survivors include two daughters, Clementine Hyndman of San Rafael and Josephine Gardner of Philo, Calif.; a sister, Eleanor Bruner of Sioux City; four grandsons; and many nieces and nephews throughout the United States.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Eleanor Hyndman Memorial Scholarship Fund at the East West Karate School, 1414 4th Street, San Rafael, Calif. 94901.
