SIOUX CITY | Clarissa Marie (Chicoine) Burroughs, 58, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, July 7, 2016, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 605 E. Main St., Elk Point, S.D. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery at Elk Point. Visitation with the family present will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Kober Funeral Home, 802 E. Washington St. in Elk Point.

Clarissa was born on Feb. 8, 1958, in Sioux City, to Marvin and Kathleen (Minor) Chicoine. She grew up in rural Elk Point, and graduated from Elk Point High School.

She married David Burroughs on Aug. 10, 1985. She worked for the City of Sioux City for 13 years and King, Reinsch, Prosser and Co., LLP for 22 years. She was an active member of the Siouxland Sewing Guild and Woodbury County 4-H program. She loved sharing her passion of sewing with others and taught several sewing classes to local 4-H groups and other youth programs. She was an avid baker and loved baking goodies for any occasion.

She is survived by her husband, David Burroughs; three daughters, Carrie Chicoine of Sioux City, Kristina (Jonathan) O’Brien of Oxford, Mich., and Mary Burroughs (fiance, Ian Hoesing) of Nashville, Tenn.; two foreign exchange daughters, Jelke Brandehof of the Netherlands, and Ria Hochstrasser of Switzerland; her siblings, Sheryl (James) Goto of Carlsbad, Calif., Leon Chicoine of Vermillion, S.D., Denise (Roy) Strehlow of Jefferson, S.D., Marcie (Dick) Cambigue of Sun City, Ariz., Rodney Chicoine of Stanton, Calif., Lori (Dale) Biermann of Ankeny, Iowa, Janine (Dale) Tramp of Crofton, Neb., and Rebecca Stamp of Elk Point; her sister-in-law, Ruth Aken of St. George, Utah; her brothers-in-law, Joe Burroughs of Corona, N.M., Raymond Burroughs of Ute, Iowa, Richard Burroughs of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Tony (Kathy) Burroughs of Sioux Falls, S.D., Robert (Kathy) Burroughs of Corona, N.M., and Daniel (Jane) Burroughs of Ute; five grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Freda (Griffin) and Francis Burroughs; her sister-in-law, Helen Burroughs; and her brothers-in-law, Tim Aken and Tim Burroughs.
