SIOUX CITY | Carol Sue Vander Feen, 73, of Sioux City passed away peacefully in her home. Carol’s journey ended on Sept. 29, 2016.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date in Ireton Cemetery, Ireton, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Rexwinkel-Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron, Iowa. Expressions of sympathy may be expressed to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com.

Carol Sue was born to Frank and Antonia (Vande Hoef) Vander Feen on Jan. 10, 1943. She grew up on the family farm near Ireton, Iowa. She graduated from West Sioux High School at Hawarden, Iowa, in 1960. She graduated from Westmar College with a bachelor of arts degree in 1964.

Carol Sue lived in Davenport and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, St. Louis, Mo., Glenwood Springs, Colo., and Sioux City. Her professional career involved interior decorating, owning her own furniture store in Glenwood Springs, Colo., and owning Second Seasons store in Sioux City.

Carol Sue enjoyed reading, traveling and gardening. Her most memorable trips were with her sister, JoAnn Kots to Uganda, Africa, various South American and Central American countries, Italy and other European countries.

Carol Sue is survived by her sister, JoAnn Kots; brother, John Vander Feen and sister-in-law, Janice Vander Feen; her nieces and nephews, Deborah (Kevin) McCaul, Rebekah Haskins, Kim (Gary) Buryanek, Tom (Suzanne) Vander Feen, Greg (Aimee) Vander Feen, Suzanne (Alec) Johnson; as well as her great nieces and nephews, who will miss her at family gatherings.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
