SIOUX CITY | Colleen Ann Sweat, 78, of Sioux City, passed away peacefully Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016.

A celebration of life service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave.

Colleen was born on July 24, 1938, in Sioux City, the daughter of Elbert and Leota (Winn) Matthews. She grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City Schools, graduating from Central High School.

Colleen married Richard Gilbert in June 1958. To this union three children were born, Mitchell, Linda, and Alan. Colleen was united in marriage to Clarence "Cal" Sweat on Jan. 2, 1986.

Colleen enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her two sons, Mitchell (Cindy) Gilbert, and Alan Gilbert; daughter, Linda Gilbert; sisters, Judy (Ted) Blenderman and Marilou (Joe) Thomas; brother, Joe Matthews; stepson, Calvin Sweat and his girlfriend, Kyle; stepdaughters, Pam (Dickie) Landrum and Diana Sweat; many grandchildren, stepgrandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-stepgrandchildren.

Colleen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Cal; her parents; her sister-in-law, Dee Vee Matthews; and a stepson, Bill Sweat.
