SIOUX CITY | Verle A. “Stash” Jensen, 89, of Sioux City, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016, at Pioneer Valley Living & Rehab Center in Sergeant Bluff.

Visitation with the family present will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a time of sharing memories at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. The family would like relatives and friends to join them for a luncheon at noon on Wednesday at Faith Lutheran Church, 3101 Hamilton Boulevard. Stash was born April 2, 1927, in Norfolk, Neb. He was the son of Ollie and Christine (Klatt) Jensen. Stash grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City schools. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Stash married Marilyn J. Perrin on Oct. 18, 1947, in Elk Point, S.D. He was a master gardener and loved to grow tomatoes.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn of Sioux City; a daughter, Ricki Simmons and her husband, Bill of Pensacola, Fla.; a son, Scott Jensen and his wife, Vicki of Mill Creek, Wash.; four grandchildren, Paige Simmons, Douglas Scott Jensen, Bradley Scott Jensen and Kali Ann Jensen. Stash is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Stash was preceded in death by his parents; two infant children; a grandson, B.J. Simmons; two sisters, Louise Nicholls and Dorothy Cook; and a brother, Bob Dalton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of Siouxland or the Siouxland Humane Society.
