SIOUX CITY | Gail Reinert, 72, of Sioux City, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, at her residence after a long illness.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Daniel Rupp will officiate. Burial will be in West Pilot Cemetery, rural Cherokee, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Gail was born Feb. 25, 1944 in Gordon, Neb. She was the daughter of Dale and Helen (Blankenfeld) Mansfield. Gail grew up on a farm near Quimby, Iowa, and graduated from Quimby High School. She worked for the Cherokee Mental Health Institute and retired from there after working there for 23 years. Gail worked full-time at Jackson Recovery Center while going to Briar Cliff College. She graduated from Briar Cliff in 1992. After graduation, she moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, for a short time and then returned to Sioux City. Gail worked for Jackson Recovery Center for 10 years.

Gail was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening and flowers. She especially loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Over the years, Gail touched many lives.

Survivors include her children, Marcia Kelley and her husband, John of Sioux City, Chris Wahlstrom and her husband, Craig of Hinton, Iowa, and Marty Reinert and his wife, Judy of South Sioux City; her siblings, Jean Ireland, Jim Mansfield (Fayola), Audrey Neiffer, Harry Mansfield (Anita), Betty Schmidt (Darwin), Linda Flewelling, Richard Mansfield (Linda) and Judy Gross (Edward); eight grandchildren, Bobbie Sheffield, Micah Sheffield, Sara Godbersen (Russ), Benjamin Kelley, Cortni Miller, Meranda Kappler (significant other Josh White), Zach Kappler (Veronica) and Zane Reinert (Alyssa); and 10 great-grandchildren, Tobias, Isaiah, Collin, Caydin, Maddie, Matthew, Mac, Ella, Evan and Adalie.

Gail was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Keith Mansfield (Alice); her sister, Virginia Gagnon (Tom); and two brothers-in-law, Wayne Ireland and Ray Flewelling.
