South Sioux City— Edna Mae Klasey, 90, wife of a former South Sioux City mayor, died Thursday at a South Sioux City nursing home.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Paul United Methodist Church with Dr. Ivan Richardson and the Rev. Raymond Bryant, pastor of the Evangical church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday with the family present from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.

Mrs. Klasey, the former Edna Mae Dixon, was born July 7, 1897, at Madison, S.D. She married Fred W. Klasey on November 22, 1919, at Madison and the couple moved to South Sioux City in April, 1921. He died September 8, 1964, in Sioux City. She was a correspondent for the South Sioux City Star for 30 years.

She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and a member of the church circle. She was Sunday School superintendent at Grace Methodist Church in South Sioux City for 30 years and had taught Sunday School for 19 years.

Survivors include a son, Thomas of Lakewood, California; two daughters, Mrs. LeRoy (Elaine) Carlson and Betty Mahr, both of Sioux City; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Lucille) Hartt of El Monte, California; 12 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established in her name for Klasey Park Improvements and can be made at the City Clerk’s Office in South Sioux City.
