Stecker Rites On Wednesday

Former Attorney Here Passes Away in Akron, Iowa

The funeral of John Frances Stecker, 58, a former attorney here who died Monday in his Akron, Iowa home following a brief illness, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Rossow Funeral Home in Akron. Interment will be in the Akron Cemetery.

The pallbearers will be Raymond Reister, Richard Jepson, William Jepson and Chris Jepson, all nephews, Donald Ross and Arthur Montagne.

Mr. Stecker was born January 30, 1887 in Seymour, Iowa. He attended Morningside College, later going to the University of South Dakota where he took a law course. While there he also played on the varsity football team. He was graduated from South Dakota in 1909.

After receiving his degree Mr. Stecker practiced in Viborg, S.D. In 1912 he and Miss Theodore Guernsey were married in Akron, and in 1913 he became associated with the law firm of Jepson & Jepson here. Later he returned to Akron where he opened a law office and practiced there until the time of his death.

Survivors include the widow; two daughters, Mrs. Phillip Klauer of Hollister, Cal., and Mrs. Martin Conway of Sioux City; five grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Nellie Reister, Mina Stecker and Rozetta D. Stecker and two half brothers, Dr. William Jepson and C.N. Jepson, all of Sioux City; 10 nephews and nieces.
