Ex-Sioux City Man Is Killed

Floyd Forsberg Was Among 99 Americans Massacred at Wake

One former Sioux Cityan was among the 99 United States citizens who were massacred October 7, 1943 on Wake Island, the navy department has revealed.

Floyd Forsberg attended Morningside College and assisted two undertakers in Morningside before moving to California in 1937. Later he went to Wake Island as a civilian employe and was captured by the Japanese there when the Island fell just before Christmas in 1941.

Nothing about his fate had been heard by his wife, the former Ruth Lent, daughter of the late Edward O. Lent who was post-master in Morningside until he retired and moved to California. Mrs. Lent now is living in Hollywood with her daughter.

Mrs. Forsberg has advised a friend, Mrs. A.E. Line, here that she has received official word from the navy that her husband was one of the massacre victims.

Mr. Forsberg also formerly lived at Canova, S.D.
