Claude Matthew Dawdy

Claude Matthew Dawdy was born January 31, 1883 near Persia in Harrison County, Iowa. In 1894 he came with his parents in a covered wagon to Woodbury County. They settled near Climbing Hill on the farm now owned by Clarence Beaver.

He was united in marriage with Katherine Callaghan February 6, 1907, at Anthon. Two children were born to them—a daughter in 1910, who died the following March after a brief illness, and a son, Leonard in 1913.

In 1911 Mr. and Mrs. Dawdy moved to the farm where they resided at the time of his death. Except for two years in Nebraska he had been continuously a resident of Woodbury County.

Surviving are the widow, a son, one granddaughter, four sisters and four brothers.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 15 in the Christian Church at Holly Springs, the Rev. Mr. Miller of Sloan officiated. Burial was in the Willow Cemetery under the direction of the Willman Funeral home of Rodney.
