Mrs. Chas. Metcalf Services Wednesday
Beautiful Funeral Services Conducted from the Holly Springs M.E. Church
1 Aug 1873 – 5 May 1930

Beautiful and impressive funeral services were conducted from the M.E. Church at Holly Springs on Wednesday of this week for Mrs. Charles Metcalf, who passed away in the Methodist hospital at Sioux City on Monday, May 5th following an operation for complications of appendicitis and gall stones.

Mrs. Metcalf was the wife of Charles Metcalf, brother of Dr. E. B., Walter and Edward and the mother of Leonard, Loren, Clinton, Alton and Austin and Mrs. Cecia Callaghan, all residents of the Holly Springs vicinity where the family has resided for the past thirty-five years. Mr. Metcalf is a patient in the M.E. hospital in Sioux City, suffering from a very serious attack of heart trouble and was unable to attend the funeral services.

In early life, over forty years ago, Mrs. Metcalf became a member of the Methodist Church, to which faith she always clung and in her passing a loving wife and mother, a faithful friend and a lover of honest integrity and Christian fortitude has gone but her kind influence still lives on in the hearts of her family, other relatives and her many admiring friends and neighbors.

Interment was in the Holly Springs Cemetery with funeral services being conducted jointly by Rev. Kiernan of Morningside and a former pastor of her church and Rev. Carl Hammer, present pastor of the Holly Springs, M.E. Church. Peter and Becker were in charge of funeral arrangements.
