SOUTH SIOUX CITY | Shannon Lynn Chrisman, 39, of South Sioux City passed away Sunday, July 3, 2016, at a South Sioux City care center.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Salem Lutheran Church in rural Dakota City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.

Shannon was born on July 14, 1976, in Sioux City, the daughter of James D. and Linda K. (Jones) Chrisman. She graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1996. She was employed at Hy-Vee in South Sioux City and also participated in the South Sioux City Special Olympic activities. She was awarded the Special Olympics Hall of Fame award and the Nebraska Female Special Olympics Hall of Fame Award.

She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her parents, Jim and Linda of Dakota City; four aunts, Lynda (Jim) Alvarez of Omaha, Shirley Maron of Omaha, Bev (Dennis) Schaffer of San Antonio, Texas, and Diane (Jim) Moyle of Sioux City; an uncle, Dick Jones of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a special friend, Gregg Rider; and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Pallbearers will be Richard Jones, Tim and Alec Alvarez, Jeremy Knox, Dillan and Connor Vaughan, and Jason Bates.
