Jay was born on July 31, 1960, to James and Lois Frink, in Kansas City, Mo. He graduated from Sioux City Heelan High School in 1979. He entered Mitchell Vocational College in Mitchell, S.D., receiving a degree in culinary arts.

He married Candi Marsella in Shreveport. Jay began his culinary career in North Dakota. Pursuing his passion for not only being a respected and successful chef, Jay was an accomplished ice sculpture artist using chain saws and ice knives. From eagles to sculptures that he would float at parties while honing his skills working in South Dakota, Las Vegas, the Caribbean and beyond.

Jay hosted a cooking show for quite some while in Shreveport. He later hung up the chef coat for a suit coat and realized a lifelong dream of running several kitchens at once. At the time of his death, Jay was responsible for the operations of 40 plus restaurants across the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. He was an avid fisherman and hunter throughout his life.

Jay is survived by his spouse, Candi; daughter, Nicole; son, Jason; sisters, Mardi Hendricks (Al Butler) of Sioux City, and Connie Frink of Phoenix, Ariz.; nephew, Aaron Frink (Jennifer Collins); and niece, Brandi Wetzel. Jay also leaves behind a band of brothers.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Kerry Frink Wetzel.

Connie and Mardi would like to thank Tim Cronin for his love, kindness and support.

Jay impacted and influenced everyone that he had contact with, and he will not only be missed, but he will never be forgotten. Aloha, my brother.
