SIOUX CITY | Charlotte J. Kroeger, 87, a lifelong resident of Sioux City died Saturday, June 25, 2016, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

A celebration of her life will be 1 p.m. today at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, located at 1801 Morningside Ave., with Chaplain Jon Moravec officiating. Interment will be in Floyd Cemetery. Charlotte's last request was for everyone to please wear their favorite sports teams jersey, shirt or hat to her service. Visitation with the family will be noon until service time today at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.christysmith.com.

Charlotte was born on Sept. 12, 1928, in Sioux City, to Walter and Mary (Jellen) Blixt. She grew up in Morningside and attended East High School.

She married Roger Kroeger on Sept. 19, 1947, in Sioux City. The couple made Sioux City their home. Roger passed away in 1993. Charlotte worked at the Benson Building, Bishop's and Morey and Raymond's clothing store throughout her career.

Charlotte was an avid sports fan, a 30-year season ticket holder for the Minnesota Vikings and loved to watch the Minnesota Twins play baseball. She had a great love of nature, fishing, camping, boating, and snowmobiling. She also enjoyed building puzzles and collecting figurines of angels, cats and mice,

Survivors include three nephews, Terry and Paula Ludwig, Jerry and Cindy Ludwig, and Perry and Babby Ludwig, all of Lawton, Iowa; a niece, Shirley and Sandy Grillet of Des Moines, and several other nieces and nephews; grandnieces, Terah and Cody Nelson, Jamie and Mark Vaul, and Cami Parks; and grandnephew, Travis and Katey Ludwig.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roger; and five sisters, Helen Anderson, Ruth Rhymer, Mary Jane Becker, Betty Ludwig and Irene Lee.
