SIOUX CITY | Wallace Butler, 92, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at a local nursing home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Nelson Berger Northside Chapel. Visitation with the family will be 9:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Wallace D., the son of John S. Butler and Florence Wharton Butler Keairnes, was born on April 6, 1924, in Sioux City, where he grew up. During World War II, Wallace served with the 312th Fighter Control Squadron with the U.S. Army Air Corps. After receiving his honorable discharge, Wallace returned to Sioux City and worked as a welder for various companies.

Wally enjoyed fishing, cooking, riding bicycles, tinkering with cars, spending time with family and helping anybody who needed help.

Wally is survived by his wife, Charlotte Butler of Sioux City; a brother, William Keairns and wife, Kay; two sisters, Donna Dean and Lois Doughty Appel; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Butler; and several nieces and nephews, William (Margaret) Keairnes, Christy Sloan, Thomas (Debra) Dean, Linda (Marlin) Evers, Paul Dean, Geri (Tom) Foster, Michael (Amanda) Doughty, Patricia (John) Blaha, John (Malaeng) Butler, Jeffrey (Carrie) Butler, Genise Trappe, Colleen (Dale) Meckling, and Jimmy (Kathy) Keairnes.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dennis Butler; and two brothers, John and James Butler.
