Margaret Louise Anderson Richards 1918 - 2016

McCOOK LAKE, S.D. | Margaret Louise Anderson Richards, 97, of Sun City, Ariz., formerly of McCook Lake, passed away peacefully from a brief illness, on Dec. 18, 2015, at her residence surrounded by family.

Memorial services were held at WillowBrook United Methodist Church in Sun City. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City.

Margaret was born in Sioux City, on March 2, 1918, the daughter of James Herbert Anderson and Pearl Stark Anderson. She attended Sioux City schools and graduated from Central High School.

She married Charles Amos Richards in 1942. To this union two daughters were born, Charlene and Charlotte. Charles passed away in 1984, in McCook Lake.

She worked as a bookkeeper at Swifts. She also was employed at Zenith Corporation and at Westside Nursing Home. She was a caregiver to her mother, who suffered from Alzheimer's for many years.

Margaret was a lifelong member of the Methodist faith. She was a member of Whitfield United Methodist Church, Crescent Park United Methodist Church and McCook Lake United Methodist Church. She lived in Sioux City and McCook Lake for many years and moved to Sun City in 2005 to be near her family.

Margaret loved spending time with her family, helping wherever she could, participating in church services and attending her grandchildren's activities. She especially loved playing cards.

Survivors include her daughters, Charlene (David) Sauter and Charlotte (Gawyn) Gernstein; grandchildren, Donelle (Robert) Katzenberger, Charles (Susan) Sauter, Shari (Richard) Roberts, and Christopher (Michelle) Sauter; 17 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; nieces, Susan Smith, Gloria Haydter, Karen Lund, Kathy Lockey, Karen Mayrose, Lisa Graue, and Anita Christopherson; and a nephew, Brad Christopherson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her parents, James and Pearl Anderson; two sisters, Violet Christopherson, and Doris Staebell; two brothers, Herbert and Robert Anderson; a niece, Kim Beaulieu; and a nephew, Scott Anderson.
