Clarence R. Jorgensen, 86, of Sioux City died Sunday, March 23, 2003, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Gary Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the American Legion. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mr. Jorgensen was born July 16, 1916, in Sioux City, the son of Christian and Emma (Rasmussen) Jorgensen. He grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City schools. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in Europe and the Philippines, from 1941 to 1945.

He married Rose Distefano on Feb. 27, 1946, in Sioux City. He was employed with Sioux City Foundry for 41 years.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the American Legion Monahan Post 64. He enjoyed woodworking, taking care of his yard and flowers.

Survivors include his wife, Rose of Sioux City; three sons and their wives, Richard and Deborah Jorgensen, Michael and Charlene Jorgensen and Robert and Karen Jorgensen, all of Sioux City; four grandchildren, Christopher Jorgensen and his wife, Jennifer, Thomas, Jeffrey and Daniel Jorgensen; a great-grandson, Austin; two brothers-in-law and their wives, John and Virginia Distefano of Parker, Colo., and Thomas and Arlene Distefano Jr. of Dakota Dunes, S.D.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

Pallbearers will be Christopher, Thomas, Jeffrey, Daniel and Jerry Jorgensen and Terry McLarty.
