Robert C. Johnson, 81, of Sioux City died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Glen Rachuy officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1973. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Nelson-Berger Northside Funeral Service.

Mr. Johnson was born April 9, 1920, in Sioux City, to Robert and Clara Johnson. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

On April 1, 1950, he married Beverly M. Brown in Dakota City. She died May 1, 2000. He was employed as a bricklayer for more than 40 years, working for Klinger Construction most of his career.

He was active in the Siouxland Senior Center since 1983, and a member of the board since 1994.

He is survived by a son and his wife, Vernon and Louise of Omaha; daughters, Betty Dieter of Omaha, Barbara and her husband, Robert Steele of Independence, Mo., and Bobbie and her husband, Rob Myers of Sioux City; 11 grandchildren, Brian and Steve Johnson, Teri Byers, Jim and Danny Steele, Heath, Chad, Joel Torno, Kris Brun, Bonnie McCoy and Sue Costello; 21 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; a brother-in-law, Lyle Brown of Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Ardis Johnson of California, and Nancy Brown of Missouri; and extended family Jackie and Greg Baldock and Doug Watkins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bill.
