SIOUX CITY | Margaret "Mickey" R. Goetz, 85, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at a local Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Spirit Retirement Home Chapel, with the Rev. Dennis Meinen officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, with a vigil service at 7 p.m., all at Holy Spirit Retirement Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Mickey was born on Dec. 25, 1930, in Fremont, Neb., to Thomas and Marguerite (Haven) Sinnott. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy in Des Moines.

She was married to Paul Goetz for more than 30 years. Together they raised their 10 children. She was a past owner and operator of Perkins Office Solutions in Sioux City. She was directly involved in the company for 30-plus years.

Mickey enjoyed spending time and hosting family gatherings in her cabin in Lake Okoboji. In her younger years, she loved taking her children bowling and playing mini golf with them. She also enjoyed traveling the world. Her fondest memories of traveling include visiting Ireland, where she enjoyed learning about her heritage and visiting Rome where she attended a Papal Mass by Pope John Paul II. She was very proud of all her children and never missed a chance to share their accomplishments with others. Christmas was her favorite holiday, not only because it was her birthday, but because she got to shop for her 10 children and decorate a large home.

She was a devout Catholic and was always ready to lend a helping hand at church or at the many places where she volunteered. Mickey was a past member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, where she raised her 10 children. She later became an active member of St. Michael Catholic Church. When her health began to fail, she moved to Holy Spirit Retirement Home and attended daily Mass at the Holy Spirit Chapel, where she found much spiritual comfort. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and volunteered at Trinity Heights, Flight 232 Plane Crash and the St. Luke's Gift Shop.

Those left to cherish her memory are her eight surviving children, Brad (Pam) Goetz of Springfield, Ill., Brent Goetz of Spencer, Iowa, Paula Goetz (Tom Cooper II) of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Kevin (Sheila) Goetz of Thorton, Colo., Kent Goetz of San Jose, Calif., Theresa (Tim) Goertz of Hornick, Iowa, Kurt Goetz of Lincoln, Neb., and Kenny Goetz (Terry Thompson) of Las Vegas, Nev.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Sinnott of Omaha; brothers-in-law, the Rev. John Heekin of Highland Beach, Fla., and Jack Hayes of Chandler, Ariz.; and her best friend and honorary sister who shared many life adventures with her, Donna Furlong of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Keith and Brian Goetz; brother, Thomas Sinnott; and three sisters, Doris Christman, Rita McManus and Mary Ann Hayes.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Holy Spirit for their loving care of Mickey.

Memorials may be sent in Mickey's name to Holy Spirit Retirement Home or Trinity Heights.
