Eleanor was born on July 16, 1925, in Sioux City, the daughter of Louis and Mina (Micholsky) Staszewsky. Following graduation from East High School in 1943, she became employed by Western Weighing for the railroad in Sioux City.

On Aug. 31, 1946, Eleanor married the love of her life, Melvin L. McKeone at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. They raised two children, John and Kathy. In 1964, she worked alongside her husband who owned and operated Baker's Hardware in the Sioux City Stockyards area. They retired in 1987. Melvin passed away on April 16, 1994, in Sioux City.

Always known for her homemade cookies, all of her recipes will now live on for generations through her children and grandchildren. You could always tell when she was present as the sounds of her whistling filled the room with her song. The birds must have also taken notice, as we will remember Eleanor with every chirp, tweet and whistle they produce.

Eleanor was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church until moving to Springdale in 2007.

Survivors include her children, John McKeone and his partner, Chris Roderick of Fayetteville, Ark., and Kathy Zaunbrecher and her husband, Godfrey of Texas; a sister, Jeanette Burnight of Sioux City; two grandchildren, Dr. Troy (Patti) Reistroffer and Susie (Joey) Cozzi; five great-grandchildren, Corey Porta, Blake and Karlee Reistroffer and Jarod and Justin Cozzi; and nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Frances Staszewsky; and brother-in-law, Ray Burnight.

Pallbearers will be Randy Burnight, Rick Burnight, Corey Porta, Blake Reistroffer, Jarod Cozzi and Justin Cozzi. Honorary pallbearer will be Karlee Reistroffer.

Memorials may be made in her name to Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale.
