SOUTH SIOUX CITY | Wilma Ione Hallstrom, 92, of South Sioux City passed away Monday, April 4, 2016, at her son's home surrounded by her family.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Becker–Hunt Funeral Home, with Chaplain Mark S. Westrich officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Wilma was born on June 25, 1923, in Highmore, S.D., the daughter of John E. and Edna P. (Adair) Noe. She graduated from Ponca (Neb.) High School in 1942.

She married Maurice E. Hallstrom on Nov. 8, 1946, in South Sioux City. She was employed as cook for the South Sioux City School system for more than 40 years. She loved all the little kids and loved to baby-sit. She took care of the nursery at First Covenant Church of many years.

She loved to make pies, cookies, cakes and cinnamon rolls. She took pride in making a lamb cake for all of the first birthdays. She also collected angels.

Survivors include a son, Gary and his wife, Denise Hallstrom of South Sioux City; a daughter, Cheryl and her husband, Scott Martin of South Sioux City; a sister, Bernadine Hallstrom of South Sioux City; seven grandchildren, Trish Martin and companion, Dusty Baker, Justin (Kristie) Martin, Jerrad (Kaylee) Hallstrom, Kelsey (Terry) Poland, Landon Hallstrom and financee, Nikki Herbold, Lacey Hallstrom, and Dylan Hallstrom; and seven great-grandchildren, Cody Martin, Andee Martin, Markus Martin, Josilyn Martin, Jace Poland, Jaxon Hallstrom, and Raylie Poland and one great-granddaughter on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Maurice on Oct. 5, 2010; a son, Larry and his wife, Julie Hallstrom; brothers, Glenn, Verl, and Merland; and a sister, Beryl Fleming.

Pallbearers will be Jerrad, Landon and Dylan Hallstrom, Justin and Cody Martin, Dusty Baker, Terry Poland and Markus Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be Lacey Hallstrom, Trish Martin, Kelsey Poland and Kaylee Hallstrom.

The family wants to give a special thank you to her care givers Denise and Lacey Hallstrom and her special hospice nurse, Wendy
