SIOUX CITY | Hiram Thompson, 66, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at a local hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Zirpel officiating. Interment will be in Graceland Park Cemetery.

Hiram was born on Aug. 8, 1949, in Ishpeming, Mich., to John and Lorraine (Rodda) Thompson. He attended school through the Sioux City Community School District. Hiram worked at Goodwill Industries for 17 years before his retirement in 2011, prior to that he was at WACO Industries (New Perspective Industries) for 10 years.

He enjoyed spending time visiting with family and friends, and going on vacations. Some of his favorite trips were Disney World, the Black Hills, Branson and touring Minnesota and Iowa. Hiram enjoyed the arts and liked drawing and painting.

Those left to honor his memory include his brothers, Raymond Thompson and Bruce Thompson of Sioux City; and his many friends at Mid-Step Services.

Along with his parents, Hiram was preceded in death by his brother, John Robert Thompson II; and his sister, Donna Mae Thompson.
