SIOUX CITY | Theodore George Gilinsky, 95, of Scottsdale, Ariz., formerly of Sioux City, passed away on Feb. 26, 2016.

Mr. Gilinsky grew up in Sioux City, and went to Central High School. During World War II, he earned a Purple Heart at the Battle of the Bulge in France. He graduated from the University of Chicago, where he earned his law degree.

Mr. Gilinsky worked for the County Attorney's Office in Sioux City, before going to Washington D.C., to work as an attorney for the Department of Justice. He and his wife, Shirley Shapiro, retired to Scottsdale.

He is survived by his sister, Jeanne Levy (Dr. Edward Levy); stepson, Steve Shapiro of Maryland; and his nieces, Susan Paull, Joan Silverman and Jill Levy Edwards.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Shapiro.
