SIOUX CITY | Margaret Lou (Kimberley) Fisher, 90, formerly of Fort Dodge died on Feb. 4, 2016, at Sunrise Retirement Health Center in Sioux City, after a long struggle with spinal stenosis and Alzheimer's disease.

Per her wishes, the body has been cremated. Memorial services will be held April 2, 2016. She will be interred next to Ed in Memorial Park Cemetery, Fort Dodge. Arrangements are under the direction of the Gunderson Funeral Home in Ft. Dodge.

Margaret was born on March 7, 1925, in Jasper County, Iowa, on the family farm, to John and Carrie Kimberley. She graduated from Collins High School in 1942, and attended Simpson College and Drake University. During World War II, she began teaching second grade in Algona, Iowa, in 1944.

On June 30, 1947, she married Edward C. Fisher whom she had met in Algona, where he was working after serving in the Pacific theatre during World War II. They moved to Fort Dodge and eventually had three children, Marcia (Simon), Carol (Baldwin) and Edward C. Fisher Jr. Margaret renewed her teaching certificate and began teaching at Duncombe School in Fort Dodge in 1958, where she taught for 32 years retiring in 1987. During this time she also completed course work at Drake University, and graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1967.

She and Ed traveled extensively throughout the world during their retirement years visiting China, the Philippines, Australia, Egypt, Greece, Fiji, Mexico, South America, Africa, and Europe. Margaret climbed Machu Picchu, walked on the Great Wall of China, snorkeled in Belize, went on safari in Africa, visited the pyramids of Egypt, and explored Angkor Wat in Cambodia. Margaret and Ed also loved living at their retirement lake home in Twin Lakes, Iowa, where they golfed, boated, and had a wide circle of friends. Ed passed away on July 4, 2002 in Iowa City, Iowa, from complications of prostate cancer.

Margaret is survived by her children, Marcia (Joe Simon) of Sioux City, Carol (John Baldwin) of Des Moines, and Edward C. Fisher Jr. (Renate) of St Louis, Mo.; four grandchildren, Matt Simon (Kristen) of Milwaukee, Wis, Melissa Simon of Sioux City, Tyler Baldwin of Washington D.C., and Todd Baldwin (Jamie) of Colorado Springs, Colo
